Good news, Swifties: Taylor Swift still believes in the power of love.
The freshly single pop star spent her Saturday night in New Jersey with fan Max Singer, as he and new bride Kenya Smith celebrated their everlasting love. Swift graced the happy couple with a laid back performance of “Blank Space” and a handmade card featuring a line from the song: “So it’s gonna be forever.”
This most epic of wedding crashes might seem very random, but it came after months of planning. Swift had been chatting with Singer’s sister Ali since April to plan a heartfelt tribute to the Singers’ late mother.
Ali reached out to Swift in a letter explaining that Max had officially tied the knot with Smith in a hospital room, where their late mother spent her last days. A longtime fan of Swift’s music, Max danced to “Blank Space” with his mom on that special day.
The singer agreed to attend and give Max the most precious gift a dedicated fan could ask for: a private performance. Swift’s handmade card featured the “Blank Space” lyric with “forever” wrapped in a watercolor flower circle as well as Max and Kenya’s names and the date of the wedding.
Swift’s surprise wedding appearance was commemorated on social media, because that’s what happens when Taylor Swift crashes a wedding.
