There’s no crying in baseball. And we’re impressed this stadium dweller was able to hold back his tears.
A vendor at the Oakland Coliseum was innocently trying to sell ice cream to fans during an Oakland A’s-Houston Astros game when a foul ball suddenly hit him in the butt.
Even though it was a foul, Astros player Marwin Gonzlez’s swing had some speed. After the ball ricocheted off the vendor’s backside, he turned around toward the field in visible pain.
Several audience members immediately dove for the rogue ball, and one eager A’s fan retrieved it.
That’s right; the wounded vendor didn’t even get to keep the ball.
“That poor guy,” said the game’s commentators. “Try to make a living and he takes one in the backside. Give him the baseball, come on!” Even though this amazing ice cream provider didn’t get to keep the ball that hit him, the commentators gave us hope that he’ll get another one.
“If he doesn’t get that baseball, we’re gonna be very disappointed,” they said. “Frank, where’s Frank? Go take him a baseball, Frank.”
Come on, Frank, whoever you are. Get that man a baseball.
